I’m Dr. Neel Patel, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to Anand Clinic, an independent family practice proudly serving Christiansburg, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Pulaski, Dublin, and the surrounding New River Valley.

Anand is the Sanskrit word for bliss.
From the very beginning, our mission has been to bring more bliss, happiness, and peace into people’s lives through healthcare that truly puts you first.
Too often in today’s world, people only see a doctor when something goes wrong. At Anand Clinic, we’re changing that narrative.
We believe primary care should be about proactive wellness, equipping you with the knowledge, tools, and partnership you need to stay healthy, vibrant, and independent.
A Doctor Who Calls This Community Home
I was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, and I’ve called this region home my entire life.
I trained at VCOM in Blacksburg and completed extensive medical rotations throughout the Christiansburg, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Pulaski, and Dublin communities.
These aren’t just places on a map to me, they’re where I grew up, where my friends and family live, and where I’ve cared for patients as an attending hospitalist and faculty member in the family medicine residency program at LewisGale Hospital over the past six years.
I’ve had the privilege of working alongside many dedicated professionals at Carilion Clinic and LewisGale HCA, and I carry deep respect for the excellent care they provide.
Why I Chose Independent Family Medicine
Yet after years in academic and hospital medicine, I felt a strong calling to return to the roots of our profession.
I wanted to rebuild the simple, powerful joy of medicine: a true doctor-patient relationship without layers of administrators, middlemen, or corporate priorities standing in the way.
That’s why I chose to open an independent family practice in Christiansburg in March 2026.
Independence gives us the freedom to innovate, to listen deeply, and to focus entirely on what actually works for you.
A Global Perspective on Healthcare
My background brings a unique global perspective.
My parents were born and raised in India. I was raised in America, studied abroad at Oxford University while at the University of Virginia, and maintain close connections with physicians across the United States, England, and India.
These experiences have shown me different healthcare systems, some that spend far less than we do in America yet often achieve strong wellness outcomes.
It’s clear that much of our national healthcare challenge stems from over-reliance on big corporations and insurance complexities.
At Anand Clinic, we cut through that.
We emphasize prevention, lifestyle medicine, evidence-based care, and genuine partnership so you can avoid unnecessary hospitalizations and costly interventions.
